Hi, and welcome to the Peep Peep Thomas overview of the Wooden Thomas the Tank Engine Range of Trains, Track, Destinations and Sets that are available on peeppeep.net

The Thomas Wooden Range has been one of the most popular versions of Thomas Trains dating back to when Brio launched their great range with a strong line up of different characters, track and sets,

Thomas the Tank Engine Wooden Railways Trains & Carriages – Taking over from Tomy/Learning Curve Mattel will now be producing the Wooden Thomas range as Mattel / Fisher Price Wooden Thomas & Friends Trains from the beginning of January 2013. In their last year Tomy/Learning Curve produced Trains and accessories for the 2012 Thomas Feature Film Blue Mountain Mystery, just like they did for Hero of the Rails, Misty Island Rescue and Day of the Diesels.

Wooden Mattel / Fisher Price Thomas and Friends is fully compatible with all Wooden Trains and set from Learning Curve / Tomy, Bigjigs, Ikea, Tesco, early Learning Centre, Brio etc.

Mattel / Fisher Price will be expanding the range over the next 12 months to include Characters from the New Film this year “Thomas and the Great Race”

We have been selling this great range for 10 years, and I must say it has been a pleasure, why? well quality has been compared to alot of faddy and quite frankly horrible plastic toys has been high and reliable, the Wooden Thomas Trains feel like you have a proper toy that will last.

The range has been very strong, Learning Curve (also called RC2, and now called Tomy) had done a fantastic range throughout the years since taking over from Brio, in fact this year the Thomas Wooden Range celebrates its 20th year. the range has kept true to ensuring the popular characters have remained available, whilst introducing less known but very important characters such as duke, sir handel, peter sam, duncan etc. (Although some of the carriages have been slightly interesting)

Now where we think Learning Curve have been very good (although more expensive than others) is the range of track, anybody reading this has probably been searching in boxes of track for the right piece to extend a railway our little engineers have built, and thanked our lucky stars when we find  an array of different connections to make it posible. (Does anybody apart from us find building tracks exciting?)

Although the Wooden Thomas Trains are compatible with manuafacturers such as Brio, Bigjigs, Ikea and supermarket offerings they are not compatible Take-N-Play Thomas or Trackmaster Thomas

One of the reasons people loved to collect large parts if not all of the Thomas Range was the Character Cards that Learning Curve used to supply with the different Sodor Characters.

We noticed a couple of years ago and without any real notification Learning Curve decided to stop producing character cards to be supplied with their range of Wooden Thomas & Friends Trains etc.

Why, we can only assume it was a cost issue, or was it related to their ending of the Take Along Range?

Personally we at Peep Peep Thomas were disappointed with this decision as when our son was Thomas’s Number 1 Fan (like every child everyday a new track was made) and he would spend hours looking at his cards as well as the very well made Thomas year books, and I’m sure he wasn’t the only one.
